Cameron McGeehan is only going to get better

Barnsley’s Cameron McGeehan has told the Sheffield Star that he is only going to get better next season.

For a while, it seemed like McGeehan was a flop signing for Barnsley. After he signed for them from Luton Town in 2017, he struggled for form and a spot in the first team. This got so bad that he ended up being loaned out for the second half of the season to Scunthorpe United. However new head coach Daniel Stendel gave him a chance upon relegation and he took it, forming one of the best midfield partnerships in Sky Bet League One with Alex Mowatt and helping the Tykes to get promoted back to the Sky Bet Championship.

Now McGeehan will get another chance to play in the Championship and he is definitely confident going into the new season. He has told Barnsley fans that he can only get better next season and they have seen nothing from him yet.

He said: “Barnsley fans hadn’t seen me play so much, last year I played a little bit, but I wasn’t fully fit,”

“This year I got myself going and played and I showed the fans what I am capable of.”

“But there is a lot more to come, I have got a lot more to give and hopefully I can do that next season in the Championship.”

“You need a few games to get your rhythm and fitness back, so going out on loan last year was good for me to get back playing, get myself right and know what I had to do to come back flying this season which I sort of did.”

“I had a little injury at the start of the season but got myself into the team and kept my place ever since which was great.”
