Shrewsbury Town line up loan move for Wolves starlet

Shrewsbury Town are lining up a loan bid for Wolves’ Ryan Giles according to a report from the Express and Star.

The Shrews will not have been happy with the season just gone. Losing Paul Hurst as their head coach turned out to be a huge blow as they were unable to replicate the form that got them to the Sky Bet League One final last season and they struggled near the bottom of the Sky Bet League One table. However new head coach Sam Ricketts was able to get some good form out of the team and there is plenty of positivity going into next season.

And there might be a lot more positivity around Shrewsbury if they are able to sign Giles. The 19-year-old winger is one of the highest youngsters at Wolves and even head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has noted his talent and is fan. But even with Santo as a fan, he will struggle to get into the Wolves team next season especially if they recruit heavily again. That means a loan might be on the cards so Giles can get the first team football needed for his development.

This report states many teams are interested in signing Giles on loan but Shrewsbury might have an advantage. As they are fairly local to Wolves, it wouldn’t be a huge geographical move for a young player and the parent club would be able to more closely monitor how well he is doing if he just heads up the M54 to Shrewsbury.
