Jackson Irvine hopes to continue Hull City progress next season

Hull City’s Jackson Irvine has told the club website that he hopes that they will be able to continue their progress next season.

The Tigers can be pleased with their work this season as they did do better than most expected. Instead of being stuck towards the bottom of the Sky Bet Championship, they ended up having some good runs of form during the season and did challenge for a place in the play-offs though they did end up missing out on the top six with that being clear for a few weeks before the end of the season.

Irvine was pleased with the way they improved throughout the season and that even though they missed out on the play-offs, they can still be pleased with the way they performed throughout the season. The Australian international is now hoping that they will be able to build on last season and be even better going into next year.

He said: “When you reflect on the season on the whole, I suppose it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster at times,”

“We had a bit of a difficult start, but then some real highs in that period between November and January which gave us half a chance of making the top six.”

“Unfortunately, that just got away from us in the space of a couple of games last month but I think overall we have to look back and be pretty happy with the way that the team has progressed.”

“We’ve seen some young players make the breakthrough into the first team, and we’ve seen others putting in some top performances both individually and collectively.”

“Our home form, in the main, has been good and before our penultimate game against Sheffield United we were 12 unbeaten on our own soil.”
