West Brom start talks with Lincoln City manager

West Bromwich Albion have started talks with Danny Cowley over their managerial vacancy according to a report from Press Association Sport journalist Nick Mashiter.

The Baggies have been without a manager since March when they surprisingly sacked Darren Moore despite him having them in the race for promotion in the Sky Bet Championship. After failing to appoint Alex Neil after he decided to sign a new deal with Preston North End instead, Jimmy Shan was placed in caretaker charge until the end of the season. He was able to guide them to the Championship play-offs before losing to Aston Villa in the semi-finals but will not continue in the job.

This means West Brom are looking for someone to take them into the 2019/20 season and reports have linked them with Cowley since the end of the season. Cowley has been making himself into a Lincoln City legend over the last few years, guiding the Imps to promotion from the Vanarama National, the FA Trophy and a recording breaking run to the FA Cup quarter-finals in his first season. This year he made himself even more of a hero after they won the Sky Bet League Two title.

But West Brom are now hoping to tempt Cowley to The Hawthorns and this report states that they are in discussions with the young manager over the vacant role. He isn’t the only person West Brom are talking to, this report states there are three others they are in discussions with, but this could be a very forward thinking appointment for the Baggies.
