Nottingham Forest winger could get career back on track with Motherwell move

Motherwell want to sign Nottingham Forest winger Gboly Ariyibi on a permanent deal.

The 24-year-old the second half of this season on loan at the Scottish Premiership side and they now want to snap him up, according to Nottinghamshire Live.

Ariyibi played 19 times for the Well and chipped in with two goals. He still has a year left on his contract at the City Ground but the Reds are keen on offloading him this summer.

Ariyibi is way down the pecking order at Nottingham Forest and despite playing regularly for their Under-23’s in the past, he has never made a senior appearance for the Championship side.

He was born in the United States but moved to England when he was two months old. He started his career at Southampton and rose through the youth ranks at St Mary’s.

The former America Under-23 international signed for Leeds United in 2013 and made two appearances for the Whites as well as going out on loan to Tranmere Rovers.

Ariyibi was released by Leeds in 2014 and subsequently joined Chesterfield on a free transfer. He played 94 times for the Spirerites in his three seasons there, scoring four goals.

Forest signed him in January 2017 for an undisclosed fee. However, since then Ariyibi has been loaned out to MK Dons, Northampton Town and Motherwell.

He seemed to enjoy his time in Scotland so a move to Motherwell permanently could be beneficial to Ariyibi and would help him get his career back on track.
