Reading striker keen to complete permanent move to loan club this summer

Reading’s loaned out striker Marc McNulty has said that he is keen to push through a permanent move to loan club Hibernian in the summer transfer window.

Marc McNulty left Reading on loan in the January transfer window after failing to nail down a place in the Championship side’s starting eleven. He made the move to join Scottish Premiership side Hibernian – who are now managed by former Barnsley and Leeds United boss Paul Heckingbottom.

McNulty has impressed in his time in Scotland, netting eight goals and providing five assists across all competitions. He also achieved his goal of earning a Scotland call-up, playing against San Marino and Kazakhstan earlier this year.

Now, McNulty has said (quotes via Capital City Press) that he has thoroughly enjoyed his time with Hibs and is hoping to make a permanent move to the Scottish club once he returns to Reading.

“I’ve got three years left at Reading, it’s not just a case of me saying I want to go and Reading saying ‘all right, see you later’, it’s very complicated,” McNulty said.

“It took ages to get the loan deal done. To do the permanent I’m guessing it will be the same. There’s a lot of stuff in the background that makes it difficult. But if I need to push it, then I will.

“I’ve just been told to report back for Reading training on July 1 and Hibs are back on June 20.

“I’m going to guess that Hibs will try and get something done before then so I am in with the boys and personally I would like that too.

“I don’t want to shut the door or anything but I think I need to be settled somewhere,” the 26-year-old said when asked if he wants to return permanently or on loan.

“I can’t just keep going on loan after loan. I would push for the permanent side and try and get myself settled. But if that wasn’t possible and the only option was a loan then I would be happy.

“I definitely want to be here. I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.”
