Swansea City are set to swoop for Peterborough United’s Ryan Tafazolli according to a report from the Football Insider.
The Swans have been in the news for the wrong reasons over the last few months. Financial woes have hit the club hard and it meant the team struggled to challenge for promotion from the Sky Bet Championship this season and the news could get worse throughout the summer. Reports have indicated that Graham Potter and his coaching staff are going to leave the club in order to join Brighton and Hove Albion and many of their young players also look set to leave.
Because of their financial problems, many of the fees might go to plugging gaps rather than replacements meaning the club will have to raid the free transfer market. The South Wales club have been looking in this area for a while and it appears they have found a player who will fit their side perfectly. Swansea are close to making an approach to sign Tafazolli who currently plays for Peterborough.
The 27-year-old defender has been at Peterborough for three-years since moving from Mansfield Town and has been one of their best performers. He has often been linked with moves away from the Posh but it now seems likely that he will be going this summer. His contract is set to expire and with interest from higher leagues returning again as you can see with Swansea preparing to swoop, he may decide to try his hand in a higher division.
