Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County, Middlesbrough and Swansea City are all interested in signing Den Haag’s Sheraldo Becker according to a report from the print edition of The Sunday Mirror.
For the majority of the teams in the race for this Dutchman’s signature, they know they will be playing in the Championship next season. Swansea and Sheffield Wednesday ended up mid-table though both showed flashes that they could compete for promotion and will want to be pushing for the top six next season. Middlesbrough just missed out on the play-offs this season while Leeds ended up losing in the play-offs to one of the other interested teams Derby who will take on Aston Villa in the Sky Bet Championship play-off final next weekend.
With every team having the realistic goal of promotion, or maybe even staying in the Premier League should things go right for Derby next week, they have all become interested in signing Becker. The 24-year-old forward currently players in the Netherlands for Den Haag and is well-grounded having come through the famous Ajax academy. He was impressive for them last season, scoring seven times but with his contract set to expire in the summer these Championship sides are eyeing a potential bargain.
Earlier reports had indicated that Leeds and Middlesbrough had been interested in Becker and it will be it a blow for them that so many of their rivals are interested in signing him as well. But for Becker, it means a big choice this summer as to who he will move to next season.
