The Sunday Times has claimed that Bristol City winger Callum O’Dowda wants to leave Ashton Gate this summer, after refusing to paper on a new deal with the club.
Bristol City winger Callum O’Dowda was heavily linked with a move away from Ashton Gate in the summer transfer window, with fellow Championship side Leeds United credited with interest in January.
The Whites had seen O’Dowda as a potential back-up option if they failed in their chase for Daniel James – which they did. However, Bristol City were successful in fending off interest from Marcelo Bielsa’s side after slapping a £10 million price tag on his head.
Now, it has been reported by The Sunday Times that the winger is keen to make a move away from the Robins, and Premier League and Championship sides are weighing up a move for the Republic of Ireland international.
O’Dowda had a one-year contract extension triggered earlier this season, but with his contract now running out at the end of the 2019/20 Championship season, Bristol City could look to cash in this summer instead of risking losing him for nothing next year.
The 24-year-old played 35 games for Lee Johnson’s side this season, scoring five goals and providing five assists along the way as well. He hasn’t featured since a 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town in March, with a knee injury keeping him out of action.
O’Dowda has been at Ashton Gate for three years now, joining from Oxford United in the summer of 2016 for a reported fee of £1 million. Overall, he has featured 102 times for the Championship side.
