Top 50 Players of the EFL – 5th: Emiliano Buendia (Norwich City)

Norwich City midfielder Emiliano Buendia has been voted by you as the 5th best player in the EFL.

Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have discovered you think that Buendia is the 5th best player in the Football League. This is the first time that he has been on the Top 50 Players countdown.

Now that the season is over and Norwich have been confirmed as the champions of the Sky Bet Championship, it’s time for the fans to reflect on the season just gone. The big question pretty much everyone has about Norwich is what changed. Last year, they weren’t a bad side but they weren’t one expected to make much of a challenge for the top places in the Championship. But after a mediocre start, they soon got going and they were stunning to watch.

I would suggest that Norwich made secretly great signings which took their time to bed in and when they bedded in, beware the rest of the league. One of these players was Buendia who signed from Spanish side Getafe in the summer. And while he had been decent for them and Cultural Leonesa before heading to Norwich, he had his best season ever with the Canaries. He was a font of creativity and Teemu Pukki definitely owes him a few pints for helping him with his impressive goal tally this season. In this fantastic year for Buendia, he made 41 appearances and scored eight goals.
