Aston Villa to miss out on repeat red-hot striker deal

According to Alan Nixon, published by The Sun Online, Aston Villa are set to miss out on red-hot striker Tammy Abraham due to circumstances at Chelsea.

Villa face Derby County in the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final at Wembley for that last place in next season’s Premier League. A massive part of the Villans getting that far has been the form of Chelsea loanee Abraham.

The hotshot 21-year-old has featured in 37 games for Villa, during which time he has scored 25 goals and provided three assists. It is these goals that have spearheaded Villa’s campaign and driven them to the brink of glory. It is his second 20+ Championship goal haul after his 23 (four assists) for Bristol City in 2016/17.

However, that could very well be it as far as Villa are concerned what with Chelsea having a transfer ban looming above them like a Damoclean sword. The FIFA-imposed ban is in place for two transfer windows due to breaching rules relating to youth players; it is a ban that the Blues intend to fight.

With foresight though, and should the ban continue, Chelsea are going to insist that Abraham, plus Kurt Zouma and Reece James, will be told to remain at Stamford Bridge and fight for a place in the side.

Whether Villa go up, or stay down, Chelsea’s insistence that Abraham will remain at the Bridge will be a surefire shock for a side who have relied on the two-cap England international’s goals.

Of course, promotion to the Premier League will bring guaranteed monies and it will be these monies that Villa will need to rely on to replace Abraham, with Chelsea ready to steadfastly refuse any approach.
