Top 50 Players of the EFL – 6th: Tammy Abraham (Aston Villa)

Aston Villa striker Tammy Abraham has been voted by you as the 6th best player in the EFL.

Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have discovered you think that Abraham is the 6th best player in the Football League. This is the first time that he has been on the Top 50 Players countdown.

If you remember when we talked about when Reece James and Mason Mount making it onto this list, we mentioned that both had made no senior appearances before their success this season. That is a familiar story to Abraham who was just like them after a stint with Bristol City a couple of seasons ago. He showed some incredible form, scored goals all season and showed himself to be a potential England international. However last season, he went on loan to Swansea City and it’s fair to say he didn’t replicate that form.

And so back to the Championship he went in order to stop himself becoming another Patrick Bamford, someone else who made it onto this list, and he showed once again why he was one of one of the star strikers of the future. Villa have had a lot of strikers over the last few years but I don’t think they’ve ever had anyone as potent up front as Abraham was this season. He made 40 appearances this season and scored a stunning 26 goals.
