Celtic interested in summer move for Derby County loanee

Celtic are interested in a move for Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori.

The 21-year-old has impressed on loan at Derby County in the Championship this season and has caught the eye of the Scottish Premiership champions, as per a report by Derbyshire Live.

Tomori, who is an England Under-21 international, joined the Rams on a season-long loan from Chelsea last summer. He has since played 54 times in all competitions for Frank Lampard’s side and has chipped in with two goals.

The Canadian-born defender has played a key part in Derby getting to the Championship Play-Off final and has formed a strong partnership at the back with Richard Keogh.

Tomori joined Chelsea at the age of eight and rose through the youth ranks at Stamford Bridge. He made his first-team debut for the Blues in a Premier League fixture against Leicester City in 2016.

He got his first taste of regular senior football on loan at Brighton and Hove Albion for the remainder of the 2016/17 season and played ten times, helping the Seagulls gain promotion to the Premier League under Chris Hughton.

Tomori then spent the last campaign on loan at Hull City and made 26 appearances in all competitions for the Tigers.

His focus at the moment will be on the Play-Off final on 25th May against Aston Villa. Celtic’s interest could potentially turn his head in the summer if a permanent move to Derby is not on the cards.
