Leeds United have started talks with Forest Green Rovers over the signing of Reece Brown according to a report from the Football Insider.
The 23-year-old midfielder is coming off the back of an impressive season for Forest Green. The club, which famously restricts its players to a vegan diet in order to improve performance, were able to reach the Sky Bet League Two play-offs this season to the surprise of many. While they were beaten by Tranmere Rovers in the semi-finals, with a goal from former player James Norwood sending them out, them out the club can still be incredibly proud by what they have achieved this season.
Brown was a big reason they were able to do well this season, scoring 11 goals in 52 appearances from midfield. This has been noticed by teams higher up the league ladder especially with his contract set to expire this summer, meaning interested teams may be able to grab a bargain. Leeds have actually been interested in Brown for a while with reports of them wanting to sign Brown coming up from various sources over the last month and now they are making their move.
Leeds suffered their own heartbreak in the play-offs with Derby County coming back to beat them last night. But now that their status for next season is confirmed, they are wasting no time getting the squad they need to get promoted next season sorted. And with Brown being a long-term interest of their’s, they are now in talks with Brown to make this move happen.
