Bristol City defender Adam Webster has been voted by you as the 22nd best player in the EFL.
Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have discovered you think that Webster is the 22nd best player in the Football League. This is the first time that he has been on the Top 50 Players countdown.
The Robins suffered a huge blow last summer when Middlesbrough signed Aden Flint. He had been one of their best defenders going back to when they played in Sky Bet League One and plenty of questions were asked about if they would still be as good without him. To his credit, head coach Lee Johnson knew that this was an issue and went out of his way to sign a replacement for Flint. That replacement was Webster, signing from Ipswich Town for a fee believed to be around £3.5m.
This replacement turned out to be a great signing and some Bristol City fans would even argue that he’s even better than Flint was. He moved into the spot Flint once owned and took it over for himself and soon he was a fan favourite. The Robins challenged for a spot in the Sky Bet Championship play-offs this season and while they missed out, they wouldn’t have done it without Webster keeping that defence solid. During this season, he was able to make 47 appearances and score three goals.
