West Brom, QPR and Hull City linked winger set to be transfer listed

According to a report from Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Portuguese giants Benfica are set to transfer list English winger Chris Willock ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

English winger Chris Willock is set to be transfer listed by Benfica this summer, potentially alerting a number of Championship sides who were keen on him in the January transfer window.

Reports claimed that Benfica rejected a number of loan bids from Championship sides in the January transfer window, when West Brom, QPR, Hull City, Norwich City and Ipswich Town were reportedly interested in securing the services of former Arsenal youngster Willock.

Now, Willock looks set to be made available on a permanent basis ahead of the summer transfer window, after failing to break into the first-team set-up with Benfica. And, the report states that “several Championship sides” hold an interest in the winger this summer – seemingly putting Norwich and Ipswich out of the running.

The youngster has played most of his football during his time in Portugal for Benfica’s reserve side. In 33 games for the club’s second string side, Willock has scored 11 goals and provided six assists this season. However, since joining the club in 2017 on free, he has not featured once for the club’s first-team.

Willock made his way into senior football after progressing through the youth academy ranks at Arsenal. After featuring heavily for the club’s youth sides, the 21-year-old went on to make two substitute appearances for the first-team, both coming in the EFL Cup against Nottingham Forest and Reading.
