While Leeds have had their bright moments in the years before this season, it has mostly been mediocrity and often the bright moments have made it worse as it’s shown what the team are capable of. But the one thing all the fans at Elland Road could be proud of was their youth system. No matter the rest of the rubbish on the pitch, there were always some really talented young players that came from the Leeds academy impressing and showing the way. Some of those players, such as Lewis Cook, are now also regulars in the Premier League.

Phillips is one of those young players who fans have been proud of for being one of their better players in the last few years. And in this season with a great manager in Marcelo Bielsa and a much improved team, the 23-year-old midfielder has been incredibly impressive. He was been holding this midfield together all season and he’s rarely been out of the first team, making 45 appearances. Now he wants to get Leeds promoted via the play-offs and be one of the rare Leeds academy graduates who plays in the Premier League for Leeds.
