Reliable journalist Alan Nixon has reported that League One side Peterborough United are interested in centre-back Mark Beevers, who is out of contract at newly relegated Bolton Wanderers this summer.

Bolton Wanderers defender Mark Beevers is attracting interest from Peterborough United, journalist Alan Nixon has said on Twitter on Sunday morning (see Tweet below):

Peterborough United co-owner and chairman Darragh MacAnthony has teased that The Posh have already completed a number of signings. He said on a Periscope live stream that they have brought in an experienced Championship centre-back who has won promotion from League One.

Speculation amongst Posh fans has been rife since, with fans trying to guess who the incoming man could be. Beevers’ name has been mentioned a lot by supporters, but now their guesses are being backed up by concrete evidence, courtesy of Nixon.

Beevers fits the bill that MacAnthony described, having won promotion to the Championship with both Bolton Wanderers and Millwall in recent years. The 29-year-old also comes with bags of experience, having played 268 Championship games for Bolton, Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday.

Beevers has also made 136 appearances in League One for Milton Keynes Dons and the aforementioned teams, scoring 14 goals along the way.

Once again, Posh have moved quickly to rebuild their squad ahead of the next League One season. It is bound to be another busy summer at London Road, but won’t be a touch on the hectic summer of 2018, in which then manager Steve Evans shipped out nearly 20 players and signed another 18.
