Real Betis and Lille keen on summer swoop for Stoke City defender

Stoke City right-back Moritz Bauer is expected to leave the Bet365 Stadium this summer.

The 27-year-old is attracting interest from the likes of Real Betis, Lille, Zenit St Peterburg and Cagliari, as per a report by StokeOnTrent Live.

Stoke, who are preparing for an overhaul of their squad over the coming months, are reportedly willing to let Bauer leave on loan next season. He signed a five-year deal with the Potters last summer.

Bauer has fallen way out of favour with Stoke and made just eight appearances this season.

He signed for the Potters for a fee in the region of £5.5 million in January last year from Rubin Kazan. He played 15 times in the last campaign  but could not prevent the Potters from relegation from the Premier League.

Bauer, who is an Austria international with five caps to his name, started out with Grasshoppers in Switzerland and made over 100 appearances for them. Bauer was snapped up by Russian Premier League side Rubin Kazan in 2016 by the now Watford manager Javi Gracia. He won their Player of the Year in 2017.

Nathan Jones will be looking to put his own stamp on Stoke this summer. They may be keen to offload Bauer to free up some wages to help him bring in some of his own players.

Bauer is not short of options with Russia, Spain, Italy and France all possible destinations for him.
