According to The Northern Echo, Premier League outfit Newcastle United are interested in Aston Villa loan star Tammy Abraham.
Aston Villa top scorer Tammy Abraham is once again attracting interest from Premier League sides, with Newcastle United now being credited with interest in the Chelsea youngster.
Abraham has been catching the attention of a number of top-flight sides over the course of the season and it seemed likely that he would leave Villa Park in January. However, he opted to remain at the club and has continued to impress.
The 21-year-old has scored 25 goals in 37 games this season, helping Villa into the play-off places.
Newcastle United could be in the market for a new striker this summer. Salomon Rondon – currently on loan at St James’ Park from West Brom – is hoping to join the club permanently but question marks over Rafa Benitez’s future mean they could have to delve into the transfer market.
Abraham has been linked with a move to Newcastle in the past and this summer, they could look to rekindle their interest. But, the Northern Echo writes that he would only be of interest to the club if Chelsea were willing to sell – which could be unlikely given their two-year transfer ban.
Aston Villa will be hoping that they can bring Abraham back to Villa Park next season if they win promotion to the Premier League. But, they are looking at alternative options for next season, with Ligue 1 striker Stephane Bahoken having been linked in recent weeks.
