Top 20 Managers of the EFL – 5th: Danny Cowley (Lincoln City)

Lincoln City head coach Danny Cowley has been voted by you as the 5th best manager in the EFL.

Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have found that you think Cowley is the 5th best manager in the Football League. He has moved up nine places from his 14th place finish on this list last year.
Cowley had alway marked his card as one of the best managers in the lower parts of the EFL. He hit national headlines after taking Lincoln to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup but that year he also got them promotion from the Vanarama National and won them the FA Trophy. He followed that up with a play-off finish in Sky Bet League Two though that did end in defeat for the Imps. So it’s fair to say expectations were high for this season.
And yet Cowley was able to surpass all of those expectations. Lincoln didn’t take long to get to the top of League Two and as soon as they got there, they didn’t budge for the season. While they did get shocked from time to time, they were easily able to beat most of the teams in the division and were able to seal their promotion and status as champions long before the season was over. And with how good Cowley has been as the manager of Lincoln, you wouldn’t put it past them to challenge for promotion in Sky Bet League Two.
