Top 20 Managers of the EFL – 13th: Daniel Stendel

Barnsley head coach Daniel Stendel has been voted by you as the 13th best manager in the EFL.

Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have found that you think Stendel is the 13th best manager in the Football League. He is a new addition to this list.
You can’t blame Barnsley fans for being wary about the appointment of Stendel. They had appointed a foreign manager in Jose Morais who was meant to stop them from being relegated but was unable to do so which meant fans wanted an experienced Sky Bet League One manager to come in and guide them back to the Sky Bet Championship. Instead it was German Stendel who came in.
But now that we are at the end of the season, all of Stendel’s doubters have gone. Barnsley played some of the best football in League One this season and not many people had complaints when they were able to seal automatic promotion. And this was an especially tough year to finish in the top two with big teams such as Charlton Athletic, Sunderland and Portsmouth all on their tail. But in the end Stendel was able to guide them to promotion and they will be able to relax while their rivals are in the play-offs. Hopefully this is is why Stendel gets famous on a bigger level rather than the alleged incident with Joey Barton.
