Charlton Athletic head coach Lee Bowyer has been voted by you as the 15th best manager in the EFL.
Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have found that you think Bowyer is the 15th best manager in the Football League. He is a new addition to this list.
Towards the end of last season, Charlton decided to sack their previous manager Karl Robinson. Because of how close it was until the end of the season and his initial good form with the team, Lee Bowyer was given the job until May. He got them into the Sky Bet League One play-offs and while they lost to Shrewsbury Town in the play-offs, everyone was very impressed with the job he did in the short amount of time he had.
That’s probably why Charlton didn’t look very hard to get a replacement with Bowyer remaining in caretaker charge during the summer before being handed the job until further notice in September. And he has done a fantastic job over the year, keeping Charlton firmly in the play-offs and they even got close to getting promoted automatically. They missed out on the top two by just three points and promotion may still be on the cards as they prepare to take on Doncaster Rovers in the end of season lottery. If he does achieve promotion, it would show Bowyer to be one of the top young managers in the country.
