Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Newcastle United keen on Coventry City midfielder

Coventry City will face a battle to hold onto midfielder Tom Bayliss this summer.

Leeds United, Middlesbrough and Newcastle United have all been credited with an interest, as per a report by the Shields Gazette.

Bayliss, who is 20 years-old, has impressed for Coventry in League One this season. He has played 41 games in all competitions and has chipped in with three goals.

His contract with the Sky Blues expires in 2021. He has risen through the youth ranks at the Ricoh Arena and has established himself as a key player for Mark Robins’ side.

Bayliss, who is a former England Under-19 international, made his debut for Coventry in an EFL Trophy game against West Brom’s Under-23’s in November 2017. He has since made 72 more appearances and has bagged nine goals.

He played a key part in Coventry’s promotion from League Two in 2018 and has adapted well to the step up to the third tier in this campaign.

Championship duo Leeds and Middlesbrough could swoop for him over the coming months. The latter will be in the second tier again next season after missing out on a Play-Off place, whilst Leeds face Derby County over two legs for a place in the Play-Off final.

Newcastle is another potential destination for Bayliss. The Premier League side could see him as one for the future.

Coventry fans will be praying they can hold onto their young starlet but will know it will be a tall order.
