Top 20 Managers of the EFL – 18th: Tony Pulis (Middlesbrough)

Middlesbrough head coach Tony Pulis has been voted by you as the 18th best manager in the EFL.

Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have found that you think Pulis is the 18th best manager in the Football League. He has moved down nine places from his 9th place finish on this countdown last season.
This is a controversial one as while it seems that enough fans were impressed enough with Pulis to get him onto this list, we do doubt that many of those votes came from Middlesbrough fans. They have not liked Pulis this season, bemoaning his style of play and the fact they were not challenging for automatic promotion places. But even though they did miss out on a place in the Sky Bet Championship play-off spot, Pulis did well to get them into that position in that first place.
Even though Pulis’ style of play is hated by many, you can’t argue that it isn’t effective at times. Middlesbrough were always in the race for the play-offs and even on the final day of the season they were in 6th place for a while until Derby County were able to retake the lead in their game. This may be the last time Pulis is on this list for Middlesbrough as reports suggest his contract is set to expire and fans would be very happy to see him go.
