Tony Pulis gives update on his Middlesbrough future ahead of crucial Rotherham clash

Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis’ current contract expires in the summer, and his future is up in the air at present.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the trip to Rotherham on Sunday, Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis remained tight-lipped on whether he will sign on for another year.

Discussions will commence at the end of the current campaign between the Welshman and the Boro chairman Steve Gibson.

“I’ll speak to Steve about whether I’m going to be here or not” said Pulis.

“I haven’t made my mind up until I speak to Steve.

“I won’t be discussing it with anyone, not even my wife at the moment.”

His future may depend on Boro’s final position in the table, and whether they miss out on the Play Offs or not. The Teessiders currently sit in seventh position, but could capitalise if Derby slip up, and sneak into the top six.

However, Pulis also suggested that even if his side do not make the Play Offs, the season will have been a success.

“It’s all on which way you look at it.

If you look art it from a financial point of view, £40m of sales, cut the wage bill by a quarter/a third, cut the playing staff by nine to make sure we meet the regulations.

We’ve done all that so to still stand a chance….”

Middlesbrough go to already relegated Rotherham at the New York Stadium at the weekend, knowing all they can do to give them a chance of playing in the Play Offs is to win.
