West Bromwich Albion looking to snatch head coach from rivals

West Bromwich Albion want to snatch Garry Monk from Birmingham City and make him their head coach according to a report from the Daily Mail.

In a shock move, West Brom decided to sack Darren Moore despite being in the race for the Sky Bet Championship play-offs. After missing out on Preston North End manager Alex Neil when he signed a new contract with the Lilywhites, they decided to give James Shan the job until the end of the season. He has performed well in the role and has guided them to a spot in the top six and they have a shot at getting promoted.

Even if Shan is able to guide the Baggies back to the Premier Leagues, it appears that they will be appointing a new manager rather than giving him the job on a full-time basis. And they aren’t looking too far outside West Bromwich to find their man. They want to appoint Birmingham manager Garry Monk as their head coach whether they are playing in the Premier League or the Championship next season.

Even though Birmingham were hit with a nine-point deduction, Monk was able to guide Birmingham to safety without that much of a battle against relegation and the fans are positive about the future because of that. But West Brom are confident that they will be able to lure Monk away and become their new manager no matter what division they are in. Monk has form for leaving a team in the summer having left Leeds United to become the Middlesbrough manager in 2016.
