Loaned in Aston Villa player expected to leave parent club this summer

According to French news outlet L’Equipe, Aston Villa’s loaned in winger Anwar El Ghazi is expected to make a permanent move away from parent club Lille OSC in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Aston Villa winger Anwar El Ghazi is one of several out of favour players expected to leave French Ligue 1 side Lille OSC in the summer, L’Equipe has claimed.

El Ghazi joined Aston Villa in the summer transfer window on loan from Lille prior to the start of the current Championship season. He has gone on to play 33 times in all competitions for Villa, scoring five goals and providing six assists along the way as well.

He has nailed down a place in the starting eleven over the course of the second half of the season under Dean Smith and was at the centre of attention in the club’s controversial 1-1 draw with Leeds United at the weekend.

Now, however, questions are being raised regarding his immediate future at Lille, with the club reportedly looking at moving on a number of fringe players – one of which is El Ghazi.

It is unknown whether Villa would be keen on making a permanent move for the 23-year-old winger, but with a move away from his parent clubs on the cards, he could be available on a cut-price deal.

If Villa are victorious in the play-offs, it could be a move that manager Dean Smith looks at making permanent. But, if they remain in the Championship, their hopes of sealing a permanent move for El Ghazi could be dented.
