According to a report from HITC Sport, Championship side Blackburn Rovers have brought in Nantwich Town’s young attacker Joe Malkin in on trial after an impressive season with the club.

Blackburn Rovers are considering a move for non-league attacker Joe Malkin, who they have reportedly brought in on trial from Evo Stik Premier Division side Nantwich Town.

The 20-year-old forward joined Nantwich Town in the summer transfer window prior to the start of the 2018/19 Evo Stik Premier Division season and has performed well over the course of the season. Malkin has scored 11 goals in 20 games for the club, helping them into the play-offs.

Now, scouts from Championship, League One and League Two clubs are expected to be in attendance of Nantwich’s play-off game against Warrington Town on Tuesday evening. But, it is Blackburn who have jumped ahead of the chasing pack by bringing him to Lancashire for a trial.

Nantwich’s club website writes that Malkin is a forward who uses “his height and ability to hold the ball up well”.

Malkin only signed a new deal with Nantwich during the January transfer window, but with football league clubs reportedly taking an interest in the young forward, the Cheshire based side won’t prevent him from leaving as he looks to take his career to the next level.

It would be assumed that Malkin would join up with Blackburn’s Under-23s side if he made the move to the Championship side. A number of young players have made their way into the first-team from Blackburn’s youth ranks over the course of the season, such as Lewis Travis and Tyler Magloire.
