Graham Potter happy as Swansea City end terrible away form

Swansea City head coach Graham Potter has told the club website he was happy with the team as they ended their terrible away form with a 1-0 win over Ipswich Town.

The Swans may not have anything to play for as they are out of the race for the Sky Bet Championship play-offs but they want to end their season with pride. One problem they wanted to sort before the end of the season was their terrible away form, something which has seen them lose seven away games in a row and cost them a place in the top six. This was the perfect opportunity to end that form by facing the already relegated and bottom of the table Ipswich.

The only goal of the game came in the second half when Wayne Routledge netted on the hour and the Swans were able to hold on for the rest of the game to get that big away win.

Following the game, Potter said: “It was nice for the lads to get the win, we have played well away from home – apart from the QPR game – and not got the result,”

“Today, I thought we deserved to win, although we still needed our keeper to pull off a good save at 1-0.”

“But in terms of chances created and control of the game we deserved to win, but we have seen before it is not as straightforward as that.”

“It was not the easiest pitch to play on. It was dry, the grass was long and it was a hot day, and we probably missed that bit of quality in the final third to make it more comfortable than it was.”

“We were the better team, but anything can happen at 1-0 and it has happened to us recently. The boys have really been working hard and they deserved that.”
