Tony Mowbray delighted as Blackburn Rovers record third straight victory

Tony Mowbray has been left delighted after his Blackburn Rovers side secured a third consecutive Championship victory with a 2-1 win over Queens Park Rangers on Friday afternoon.

Blackburn Rovers recorded their third consecutive Championship win on Friday afternoon, with goals from Danny Graham and Bradley Dack enough to overcome Queens Park Rangers.

Graham put Rovers ahead with 22 minutes on the clock, firing home from the penalty spot after Lewis Travis was brought down by Josh Scowen. Blackburn doubled their lead just after the restart when Adam Armstrong’s cross was put home by Bradley Dack.

Matt Smith netted a 92nd-minute goal but it was too little too late for QPR and Rovers went home to Ewood Park with all three points in the bag.

Speaking to the Blackburn Rovers club website after the game, Mowbray expressed his delight as his side secured a deserved victory.

“Ultimately I’m delighted,” the Rovers boss said.

“We deserved to win, created chances, got in behind them, but our Achilles heel was not finishing them off.

“The delivery from (Adam) Armstrong comes in and Dack bundles it in, but we had our opportunities and deserved to win, despite being backs to the wall right at the end of the game.

“We got out of League One by being on the front foot and pressing teams. The momentum helped us do well at the start of the season and we’re trying to develop our style. We’re a team in transition who are happy to earn the points we have done this season.

“We came to play the game, deserved to win and there was no over-anxiety, despite their late goal.

“We’ve won three on the bounce now and we look forward to the Bolton game on Monday.”

Mowbray went on to praise the support of the Blackburn Rovers fans on the road, saying:

“Since the day I walked in the away support has been fantastic.

“It’s a shame that there are some who don’t come to Ewood Park, but they’re amazing supporters who spend a lot of money to support their team.”
