“It’s like he’s on a motorbike” – Rotherham United boss heaps praise on Swansea star Daniel James

Rotherham United manager Paul Warne has compared Swansea City winger Daniel James’ pace to that of a “motorbike” after his side were defeated 4-3 by the Swans on Friday afternoon.

Rotherham United boss Paul Warne has said that Swansea City star Daniel James is on a level with Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish as one of the best players in the Championship.

Warne heaped praise on the pacey Welshman after Friday’s clash between Rotherham and Swansea, which finished 4-3 to the Swans after a thrilling game. James was kept relatively quiet in the first half but provided the assist for Barrie McKay’s goal after good work on the wing to make the score 2-2.

“The best players at the best clubs are the ones who cause you problems and he is definitely up there,” Warne told BBC Sport Wales.

“He will go on to have a great career, no doubt. I think he is one of the top two players in the league – my other is the Aston Villa captain (Jack Grealish). Those two win games on their own.

“He (James) absolutely annihilated us at our place – he was unplayable. I knew we had to curtail James’ pace which is a joke, it’s like he’s on a motorbike.”

Warne isn’t the first to take a liking to James, with his impressive performances attracting plenty of interest over the course of the season. The youngster almost completed a move to Leeds United in the January transfer window before a move broke down late on deadline day, and he has since been linked with a move to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
