Hastings United’s young star and former Leeds United trialist Adam Lovatt – who almost joined League One side Sunderland on transfer deadline day – has linked up with Premier League side Leicester City on trial, his club have confirmed.
Hastings United confirmed via their club website at the weekend that young midfielder Adam Lovatt has joined Premier League side Leicester City on trial. Lovatt joined Leeds United on trial last November and very nearly completed a move to League One side Sunderland on transfer deadline day in January.
Lovatt’s move to Sunderland was set to be completed, but the EFL did not sanction the deal in time and he consequently remained with Bostik League side Hastings for the remainder of the season. However, he is attracting interest once again, with Leicester City bringing him in on trial for this week.
He is expected to train with Leicester City’s youth sides over the course of this week alongside Hastings teammate Jamie Fielding, as they look to secure a deal with the Premier League outfit ahead of the new season.
The young midfielder impressed during his time on trial with Leeds United according to Hastings manager Chris Agutter, who spoke very highly of Lovatt in an interview with the Bexhill Observer. But, the Championship promotion chasers opted not to make a permanent move for Lovatt.
Hastings United’s youngsters have been catching the eyes of professional clubs over the course of the season, with scouts across the country attending games frequently to cast an eye over their young talents.
