Leeds United are set to open talks with Kalvin Phillips, Kemar Roofe and Jack Clarke according to a report from the Football Insider.

The Whites have been brilliant this year and a 1-0 win over Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday has put them in the driving seat in the race for automatic promotion. A lot of their great form can be laid at the feet of three of their players, Phillips, Roofe and Clarke. All three have been in superb form this season and have often been the difference between losing and winning. And while none of the players are out of contract this summer, Leeds are keen to secure their future at Elland Road.

Phillips contract is set to expire in 2021 and was going to sign a new deal earlier in the season but Leeds put a block on it as they did all contract negotiations at the time so they could concentrate on their promotion push. But with the season almost over and promotion nearly secured, they are set to return to the table. And with Roofe’s contract expiring next year and Clarke being eyed up by many top Premier League clubs, Leeds hope to sign them to longer deals to prevent any potential departures in the near future.

These new deals should come at the end of the season with Leeds hoping that playing in the Premier League will help persuade the trio to sign long-term deals with the West Yorkshire club. But if they end up missing out on promotion they could end up being forced to sell with plenty of clubs being interested in the trio.
