Walsall have to turned to former captain Martin O’Connor for the rest of the season to replace Dean Keates. Here are five potential candidates for their managerial position for next season-

Martin O’Connor- The 51-year-old will surely get the full-time role if he can keep Walsall in League One this season. They are currently 22nd in the division and a single point from safety with five games to play.

Chris Powell- The Saddlers could turn to the former Charlton Athletic, Huddersfield Town and Southend United boss for next season. He has bags of experience in the Football League and will be looking for a swift return to management.

The experienced coach has previously held roles at Cheltenham Town, Port Vale and West Brom in the past. He spent over five years with the Baggies and had a spell as their caretaker boss in the Premier League.
