According to a report from the Daily Mail, Championship sides Derby County, Bristol City and Hull City are all keen on summer moves for Colchester United star man Sammie Szmodics.

Colchester United playmaker Sammie Szmodics is attracting interest from Championship trio Derby County. Bristol City and Hull City, it has been reported by Daily Mail.

Szmodics has been a star performer in a promotion chasing Colchester United side, netting 12 goals and seven assists. His performances have been catching the eyes of clubs up the football league ladder, with even Premier League side Bournemouth keeping tabs on the 23-year-old.

Excluding a brief loan spell with non-league side Braintree Town, Szmodics has spent his entire playing career with Colchester United and he is now reportedly ready to test himself at a higher level.

The attacker joined the club’s academy in 2002, at the age of just seven years old. After spending around 11 years playing for the youth sides at Colchester United from 2002 to 2013.

Since making his professional debut for The U’s in September 2013, Szmodics has gone on to play 155 games for the club, netting 35 goals and providing 14 assists for the club (Transfermarkt). He comes with bags full of football league experience, playing 92 games in League Two and 43 in League One.

Szmodics’s signed a three-year deal in the summer of 2016, meaning his deal with the League Two side runs out at the end of the current season. Any side who makes a move for the 23-year-old attacking midfielder could have a bargain on their hands
