Manchester United defender poised for extended Aston Villa stay

English Premier League heavyweights Manchester United are expected to allow defender Axel Tuanzebe to remain on loan at Aston Villa for another season according to reports by The Sun.

The England Under-21 international defender has made just eight senior appearances for United and has spent the last 14 months at Villa Park gaining further first team experience.

It has now been suggested that The Red Devils will offer Tuanzebe back to Aston Villa next season after being impressed by the player’s growth during his time at Villa Park. Villa boss Dean Smith is likely to take up that option with the youngster having featured regularly for the club prior to picking up an injury in December which has temporarily halted his progress.

Tuanzebe has made 26 appearances for Villa in total with 21 of those outings coming during the current campaign. Villa had gone seven league matches unbeaten with the centre-back in the side before he picked up his injury.

The youngster came through the Manchester United academy system where Tuanzebe won awards for being the most exciting young player in his age group and for his outstanding performances in the club’s reserve side.

Tuanzebe is contracted to Manchester United until next summer, although The Red Devils are likely to take up the option to extended his current deal at Old Trafford.
