According to a report from Football Insider, Premier League giants Liverpool have joined rivals Manchester United in pursuing Norwich City’s young defensive star Ben Godfrey.
Football Insider has claimed that Norwich City centre-back Ben Godfrey is now attracting interest from Liverpool.
The defender’s impressive performances at the heart of Daniel Farke’s defence have played a crucial role in Norwich’s impressive form throughout the season, and they have not gone unnoticed. A number of Premier League sides are reportedly keen on Godfrey and they are now joined by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
The club have been keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old over the course of the 2018/19 Championship season and are plotting a £10 million move for him this summer. But, given his strong form, Norwich are likely to up their asking price – regardless of whether they win promotion or not.
During the first half of the season, Godfrey was reduced to only a few substitute appearances here and there. However, he has nailed down a place in Farke’s starting 11 since December, featuring in every single Championship game for the club since then. He has notched up 23 appearances in all competitions, providing two goals and two assists along the way.
Godfrey started his senior career with York City, where he spent two years, playing 15 times after making his way through their academy. He made a move to Norwich in 2016, making his debut for the club in the same year. He spent the 2017/18 season on loan with Shrewsbury Town, where he played a vital role in the midfield as they achieved a place in the League One play-offs,
