Aston Villa loanee wants Chelsea first-team chance

Tammy Abraham wants to break into Chelsea’s first-team next season.

The 21-year-old striker has spent this season on loan in the Championship with Aston Villa and has been prolific for the Midlands club. His 21 goals in this campaign have fired Dean Smith’s side into Play-Off contention.

Abraham, who has made two caps for England so far in his career, has made three appearances for Chelsea’s first-team.

He has spent time away from Stamford Bridge on loan at Bristol City, where he scored 26 goals in the Championship, and at Swansea City. Abraham played for the Swans in the Premier League and managed eight goals for the Welsh side.

Abraham believes he is good enough to force his way into Chelsea’s senior side next season. He has spoken to Sky Sports about his plans: “That’s the aim going into next season. As a young kid, I’ve always believed I will play for Chelsea. I always believe that.

I think I have the ability to. I just have to, when I get the opportunity, grab it with two hands.”

Abraham saw a January move to Premier League side Wolves break down but has got his head down at Villa and done well for them since then. His long-term future appears to be away from Villa Park though which is a shame for Dean Smith.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Abraham at Chelsea in the summer and next season. Will he be given his chance?
