QPR midfielder delighted to be back playing after three month injury

QPR’s Geoff Cameron has told the club website that he was delighted to get back to playing in this weekend’s 2-2 draw with Hull City.

For a while it seemed like Cameron’s return to the first team was going to be a bad one. Hull got off to a great start with Jarrod Bowen getting a brace in the first half to give them a 2-0 lead. However, QPR showed fight and came back in the second half. Josh Scowen halved the deficit before a late goal from Tomer Hemed was able to secure the R’s an unlikely point.

Cameron, who has not played for QPR since December, was delighted to get back into the thick of it by starting the game and lasting a full hour before being substituted. He was disappointed about the mistakes they made to put them 2-0 down but was very happy that they were able to claw a point back.

He said: “It was great to be back out there,”

“I knew I wasn’t going to last 90 minutes after so long out, but it was a case of getting my fitness back and it felt pretty good.”

“In the first half we played some good football but just made some simple mistakes. We had some opportunities but weren’t clinical in the final third.”

“But we kept our heads up, stayed positive and at half-time we were still in the game. We knew if we could get the next goal we were confident we could work our way back, and that’s what we did.”
