Former Derby County striker reiterates his desire to join Celtic or Rangers

Former Derby County striker Darren Bent has reiterated his desire to join either Celtic or Rangers as his wait to find a new club goes on.

The 35-year-old Tooting-born frontman has been without a club since being released by The Rams at the end of last season after three-and-a-half years at Pride Park.

Bent has previously hinted that he would be interested in a move to either Celtic or Rangers and The Scottish Sun have reported that the player still holds that same desire.

Bent started his career at Ipswich Town were he went on to score 56 goals in 141 senior appearances. A move to Charlton Athletic followed before the striker became Tottenham Hotspur’s club-record signing in summer 2007. Bent spent two years at White Hart Lane before going on to play for Sunderland and Aston Villa.

In summer 2015, Bent joined Derby County following a successful loan spell at Pride Park. The striker bagged 28 goals for The Rams before falling out of favour at the Sky Bet Championship club last season, ending the campaign on-loan at neighbours Burton Albion

Bent was thought to be keen to find a new club last summer but the right deal has not come along and he remains a free agent. The player has been said to not favour a drop down the divisions and still believes that he has what it takes to make an impact at a big club such as Celtic or Rangers.
