Manchester United want goalkeeper Dean Henderson to play Premier League football next season.
The 22-year-old has spent this campaign on loan at Sheffield United in the Championship and has been impressive for the Blades.
His parent club United want to see how he fares in the top flight next season so other clubs are monitoring the situation, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.
This gives Sheffield United an extra incentive to gain promotion with it likely Henderson would return to Bramall Lane if that happened.
Chris Wilder’s side boosted their promotion push with an impressive 1-0 win away at Leeds United courtesy of a second half goal from Chris Basham. The win has moved the Blades into the automatic promotion places above the Whites.
Henderson has been an integral part of the Sheffield United side this season and has kept seven clean sheets in his last seven games. He has also become a real fans’ favourite amongst the Blades’ faithful and they will be desperate for him to return next season.
The highly-rated shot stopper started his career at Manchester United and rose through the youth ranks at Old Trafford. He has never made a senior appearance for the Red Devils but is being tipped to break into their first-team one day.
Henderson has gained plenty of experience out on loan having had loan spells at Stockport County, Grimsby Town, Shrewsbury Town and now Sheffield United, The Premier League beckons for him next season.
