Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest winger remains on Aston Villa’s radar

Nottingham Forest winger remains on Aston Villa’s radar

Aston Villa are still monitoring Nottingham Forest winger Joe Lolley.

Dean Smith’s side continue to have the 26-year-old on their radar, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

Lolley has had an impressive season for Forest and has scored eight goals and gained eight assists.

He spent time as a youngster at Villa’s bitter rivals Birmingham City but had to work his way up the leagues via non-league. He has spells at Bromsgrove Rovers, Littleton and Kiddersminster Harriers before he was snapped up by Huddersfield in 2014.

Lolley spent four-and-a-half seasons with the Terriers, albeit with a loan stint at Scunthorpe United in 2015, and was part of their promotion to the Premier League in 2017 under David Wagner.

However, he left for more regular first-team football when Aitor Karanka signed him for Nottingham Forest in January 2018 for just £1 million and the move has paid off.

Villa are expected to be busy this summer as Dean Smith looks to put his own stamp on his newly inherited squad. His side still have a chance of the Play-Offs after their 1-0 win away at Birmingham yesterday but it still seems a tall order.

Lolley has proven his quality in the Championship and would be a great signing for Aston Villa. However, it will be hard to lure him away from Nottingham Forest after the form he has been on this season.
