Middlesbrough winger posts cryptic message on social media after being dropped from squad

Middlesbrough winger Rajiv van La Parra has been used sporadically since his arrival from Huddersfield Town on a short-term loan.

The Dutchman has not started a single league game for Middlesbrough as of yet, and has been limited to just 69 minutes of Championship football this season. He is yet to play more than 45 minutes in a match in any competition, playing just half the game in both of his FA Cup games against Peterborough and Newport respectively.

For the first time since he signed for the North-East side he was left out of the squad entirely for the game against Brentford on Saturday, as Boro lost 2-1 at home to the side who had won just one away game all season.

van La Parra posted a cryptic message on his Instagram page after being left out the side, stating ‘Don’t try to understand everything, Sometimes its not meant to be understood. [sic]’

The post could be a dig at boss Tony Pulis who has certainly limited his chances in the first team since arriving, despite the Welshman consistently mentioning the lack of wide players at his disposal at the club.

The Huddersfield loanee was left out in place of youngster Marcus Tavernier, who was introduced in the latter stages of the game, replacing George Saville. Tavernier had been dropped in recent weeks also, and the 19-year old commented with his support on the Instagram post.

Despite all of this, Middlesbrough remain firmly in the Play Off spots with 11 games left to play. However, their hopes of automatic promotion look to have been scuppered by the defeat at the hands of the Brentford on Saturday.
