Hull City were beaten 3-0 by Nottingham Forest at The City Ground yesterday. Here are five things we learned from the game-
Solid first 72 minutes- The Tigers were defensively solid throughout before Forest’s first goal which opened the floodgates. It was a relatively even game up until that point, hence why the scoreline comes as a surprise.
What has happened away from home?- Hull haven’t won away since their 2-0 win at Leeds United at the end of December (2-2 Aston Villa, 3-0 Blackburn Rovers, 2-0 Derby County, 5-1 Brentford and 3-0 Forest).
Play-Offs a tall order now- They are still five points off but the away form is very worrying. The talk of getting into the top six is a bit ambitious now but is credit to the work Nigel Adkins and his staff have done this season from getting Hull from relegation candidates into the top half.
Brilliant away support- It was a sold out stadium yesterday with 2,000 travelling fans from East Yorkshire. Despite everything going on behind the scenes regarding the ownership of the club, the fans can still turn out in their numbers. This also shows the potential of the club to possible buyers.
Tough game next- Adkins’ men travel to top of the league Norwich City on Wednesday night. With goals leaking away from home, that could be a long night. Nevertheless, can the Tigers throw a spanner in the works of the automatic promotion race? Sheffield United and Leeds fan will be hoping so.
