Steve Bruce has made an impressive start to life as manager of Sheffield Wednesday. Here are five players he could sign for the Owls in the summer-
Rolando Aarons, Newcastle United- The tricky winger is currently on loan at Hillsborough and has made an impact in the blue and white stripes. Signing him on a permanent deal or on loan again will be on Bruce’s radar.
Michael Hector, Chelsea- Another who is also on loan at the Owls. Hector has had an excellent campaign and has become a hit with the fans at Sheffield Wednesday. The centre-back will never get a chance at Chelsea and should leave permanently.
Mohamed Diame, Newcastle United- He scored the goal for Hull City to beat Sheffield Wednesday in the 2016 Play-Off final with Bruce in charge of the Tigers that day. Could he try and sign him again? This move would certainly raise some eyebrows but isn’t beyond the realms of possibility.
Shane Long, Southampton– The experienced striker has fallen down the pecking order with the Saints. Bruce knows him well from when he signed him for Hull in January 2014. His time in the Premier League will surely be over this summer and he will be an option for some Championship sides.
Ahmed Elmohamady, Aston Villa– Bruce has managed the Egypt international at Sunderland, Hull and Villa. He fits in well in the way he likes his sides to play and offers more width. Could Bruce sign him for the fourth time for Wednesday?
