Player Ratings: Millwall 1-3 Norwich City

Millwall faced Norwich City at The Den on Saturday afternoon. Here is how Alex Grace rated the Millwall players.

Jordan Archer – 6

Made a good stop to deny Hernandez and could do nothing about Stiepermann’s goal. He was also blameless for the second and third goals. He made some key saves at key points as well.

Mahlon Romeo – 6

Looked good going forward and linked up well with Wallace but a quiet first half for the returning right back who missed out at Hull through illness.

Shaun Hutchinson – 6

For the most part did ok. His passing was a bit wayward and he found it hard to deal with Hernandez in the first half but kept him quiet in the second period. He made some important blocks when needed.

Jake Cooper – 5

Had Millwall’s best chance of the first half, rose highest from a corner but his header was cleared off the line. Like his defensive partner struggled to handle Hernandez but did a good job on Pukki. That was until the 78th minute the striker got away from him and powered a shot past Archer to make it 3-1.

James Meredith- 6

Making his first start in the league since January 12th and looked assured on the ball. Linked up well with Fergie. Picked up a booking mid-way through the first half for a foul on Aarons.

Jed Wallace – 6

A quiet game for the wide man. He got forward but his passing was bit a stray. He found it difficult to make things happen and couldn’t get involved in the game in the second half.

Shaun Williams – 6

Back in the side after being on the bench at Hull. He started brightly but was unable to continue in that fashion. His passing was not up to its usual standards. He did score the equalising goal on the verge of half time. Her was later replaced by Tom Elliott.

Ben Thompson – 8

He was by far and away the best Millwall player on the pitch. He got stuck in to every challenge and showed lots of passion. He picked up the ball on a number of occasions and took it forward to get Millwall on the front foot and showed some real grit and desire in the middle of the park to battle the Norwich midfield.

Shane Ferguson – 7

The Northern Ireland international was also one of the bright Millwall sparks. He started the game on the left of midfield but moved to left back in the second half. He got on there ball well and put plenty of crosses into the box.

Lee Gregory – 5

It didn’t come off for The Lion’s top scorer. He didn’t get the required service but fed of every scrap he got. He came out to win the ball on a number of occasions He did have a couple of efforts but neither of them on target.

Steve Morison – 6

A return for the Millwall captain to the starting 11 and he didn’t play too bad. He offers something that Tom Elliott doesn’t and that is the physical aspect of the game, hen won a number of headers and Norwich found it hard to deal with his physical presence.

Substitutes

Aiden O’Brien (James Meredith) – 5

O’Brien came on to replace Meredith after Norwich’s second goal. He didn’t have the desired effect when came on but did go close to scoring but somehow missed.

Tom Elliott (Shaun Williams) -N/A

Didn’t get sufficient time to effect the game.
