According to a report from the Daily Mirror (March 1, page 66), Nottingham Forest and Sunderland are among a host of sides to be interested in Tottenham Hotspur defender Maxwell Statham.
Tottenham Hotspur defender Maxwell Statham is reportedly on the radar of Championship side Nottingham Forest and League One promotion hunters Sunderland.
The youngster is out of contract with the Premier League side at the end of the season and Spurs are yet to offer him a new deal. With Statham potentially available on the cheap, a host of sides are keeping tabs on his developments.
He is yet to be offered a new deal by Mauricio Pochettino’s side, putting a host of clubs on red alert as they look at a possible deal.
Nottingham Forest, Sunderland, Norwich City and Sunderland are all believed to be interested in the 18-year-old. Football.london wrote last week that the youngster has trained with the first team at Spurs, adding that he went on trial with Norwich last week, hinting that they lead the race for his signature.
After working his way through the academy ranks with the North London side, he broke into their Under-18s during the 2017/18 season. Statham played 10 times for the Under-18s last season and has continued to feature for them this season.
In the current campaign, he has played five times for Spurs Under-18s, winning in every game he played in. During his trial with Norwich, he played 90 minutes at centre-back for their Under-23s as they were defeated 4-0 by Wolves’ second string side.
