Garry Monk was ecstatic with Birmingham City’s 2-1 win away at Bristol City last night.
Connor Mahoney and Michael Morrison got the goals for the Blues. They are now just three points off the Play-Offs.
Garry Monk was very happy after the game and said, as per their official club website: “If I am honest – I said it at the start of the season – our objective, considering where we’ve come from, from the last two seasons especially, we wanted to make it that the fans can feel proud of us, be in a much more comfortable position than we have been in, those nervy relegation fights, those last days.”
“It’s about making the fans proud this season, that’s what we have focused on. Yes, of course we are in a healthy position, considering where we have come from. We will take that.”
“But we are just trying to fight in every game, give our maximum. If it comes the end of the season and we are near that situation, then great, but it’s not really our focus if I’m honest with you.”
Monk was full of praise for the Blues’ fans: “I think the fans have enjoyed it. Again, one of our objectives was to try and put a smile back on their faces. Give them a team they can be proud of. And show the quality we have got as well. More often than not – I am sure they will tell you themselves – home and away they’ve been proud of the team coming off the pitch.”
