Reading forward Sone Aluko has completed his move to Beijing Renhe.
The 30-year-old will spend the remainder of 2019 on loan with the Chinese Super League side, as confirmed by the Royals’ official club website this morning.
Aluko has struggled to hit the ground running for the Royals since his move from Fulham in 2017 for a club-record fee of £7 million. He has managed just four goals altogether.
Career so far…
He started his career at Birmingham City before moving to Scotland to join Aberdeen in 2008. Aluko did well at Pittodrie and earned himself a move to Rangers three years later. He scored 12 goals in 23 games for the Ibrox club.
Aluko then moved back down to England in 2012 to sign for Hull City. He played over 100 games for the Tigers in his four years at the club and helped them gain promotion to the Premier League and get to an FA Cup final during his spell there.
He left East Yorkshire in 2016 for Fulham where he spent a season, scoring nine goals, before leaving for Reading a year later.
Reaction…
Aluko’s move to the Madejski Stadium hasn’t worked out. Here is how the Reading fans have reacted on Twitter to his move to China today-

Loan deal for Aluko. More good cost cutting by #ReadingFC. Shame it never worked out, was plenty of excitement when he arrived. https://t.co/BVqWZjFOvz

Slightly ironic that Aluko is leaving the club during possibly his best spell of form since joining us.
Good luck to him at one of our owners clubs in China. How do you feel about him going out on loan ?
